THERE WAS A TIME

 

There was a time when I knew where I was going

A time not so long ago

The road had no turns, I never went astray,

Now I wonder what happened to that road.

 

There was a time when I knew what I believed in

It seems like just yesterday

And I thought I knew what was right and wrong

Now that belief seems to have gone away.

 

There was a time when I knew that love would conquer

Now I know that isn’t true

With the love came pain, with the pain came heartache

I wonder how I ever made it through.

 

Now I realize that life is always changing

That the bad comes with the good

I know that I’ll survive, that I’ll make it through

And somehow I always knew that I would.
