Morning After
by Kelly Aten
Last night you let me love you
And your passion touched my soul
I had waited for the longest time
Slowly breaking down your barriers
Torturous months spent yearning from afar
Trying to reach you with my heart
Then yesterday you let me in
And my joy knew no bounds
Afterwards in the quiet solitude
I held you in my arms
Offering you my silent love
Gently wiping away your tears
That were mingling with my own
In the dark I found my release
Telling you my thoughts of love
The feelings I kept hidden for so long
When sleep finally claimed me
I never felt your warmth slip away
This morning when I woke alone
I felt a disjointed ache set in
I'm left holding my broken heart
Wondering where you are
