Soaring seems a dream to me -
Between the floor and sky,
Unsurpassable fishers of thought
Decline my upcast eye.

Icarus-bird, I curse my wings,
And turn with shame to air -
Scorned and scalded, downcast soul,
Whittled from wont to err.

Unsexed by heavenly realm,
Regarded nought to sight,
Fallen angel, I draw away -
Disallowed more lofty height.

Closeted and numbered,
Complete with shedded tear -
A spark of sprouting ray of hope
Shines forth to conquer fear.

Whilst starry blanket softly shrouds,
Courage strengthens wings
And spread to see a mighty queen
To rise through haughty kings.

Phoenix-fire consuming doubt
Gives succour to the core,
And graceful proves the lesson learnt
Of first to fly if dream to soar.
